Loving Arizona - Arizona Centennial Day at Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Join us anytime between 8AM and 5PM for a celebration of Arizona's statehood birthday. A number of activities will be hosted at the Lake Pleasant Visitor Center throughout the day. Start the morning off right at 8AM by joining the ranger on a fun short morning history hike above Lake Pleasant (1 mile). At 9AM we will start to award t-shirts to those who have completed the “100 Miles of Hiking” challenge. At 10AM we will start the short "100 Moments in Arizona History" Hike (1 mile). At Noon join us for some gold panning and Arizona history inside the visitor center. Come have some fun in the amphitheater at 1PM as we go back in time with "100 Memories of Arizona". Our last hike of the day will be a 100 minute "Hike into Arizona History - The Lake Pleasant Connection," above the shoreline of Lake Pleasant (4 miles). This hike starts at 2PM. In the Visitor Center at 4:30 PM, come play the "Are You Smarter than an Arizona Fifth Grader" game! And don't forget why they call Arizona the Valentine State, bring your special someone up to Lake Pleasant and enjoy a nice lunch at Dillon's on-water restaurant or a picnic in the park overlooking beautiful Lake Pleasant.

100 Mile Hike Centennial Celebration - Cave Creek Regional Park

It’s Arizona’s 100th birthday and it is time to CELEBRATE! Join us for an exciting hike on our BRAND NEW Quartz Trail (3.6 miles roundtrip)! This will be an open-house style hike and you can start any time between 9am and 3pm. Afterwards stop by the Nature Center between 9am and 5pm to pick up your limited edition T-shirt for having completed the “100 Miles of Hiking” challenge. Challenge Details: Hike 100 Miles for our Centennial and win a cool t-shirt! The program begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2011 and closes at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012. This completed form must be received by 5:00 p.m., no exceptions, and may be turned into any participating County park. To be eligible for the grand prize drawing of an Annual Pass ($75 value) and $25 Nature Center retail voucher, participants must visit a minimum of three parks, have park staff initial and date route(s) hiked and attach receipts (provide annual pass number above, if applicable). If the selected winner currently holds an Annual Pass, the Annual Pass will be renewed for one year upon date of expiration. All participants who complete the 100-Miles of Hiking will receive a limited edition tee-shirt at the park Centennial Celebration on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 9 a.m. Tee-shirts must be picked up at the park. Participants may make arrangements to pick-up a shirt from the park at a later date. Tee-shirts will NOT be shipped to customers and park(s) will not be responsible for product not picked up after Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Celebrate Arizona's Centennial at McDowell Mountain Regional Park

Trailhead Staging Area, at the ramadas Join Interpretive Ranger Amy Burnett when she and Park Supervisor Rand Hubbell will award t-shirts and congratulate the hikers who have completed the 100-miles of Hiking, challenge in the Maricopa County Regional Park system. After we acknowledge those who met that challenge Ranger Amy will lead us all on a 100 minute hike that will take place on the Scenic Trail. Keeping with the Centennial theme we’ll hike a minute for every year since statehood for this great State.

Centennial Celebration and 100 Minute Hike - Usery Park

Today is Arizona’s 100th birthday so let’s celebrate! At 9am at our Nature Center we will be handing out free limited edition t-shirts to those who completed the “100 Miles of Hiking” program (the deadline was January 30 – prior registration required). At 9:30am we will meet at the Trail Staging Area and enjoy a fun 100 minute hike in honor of Arizona’s centennial. You will discover lots of amazing things about our beautiful state on this 3-mile interpretive hike! Please bring water and close-toe shoes. Note: This hike is open to everyone, whether or not you completed the “100 Miles of Hiking” program.

Celebrating the State Centennial and Centennial Trail Groundbreaking
Estrella Mountain Park
Maricopa County Parks Department, Three Rivers Historical Society and the West Valley Arts council invite you to join us at the Estrella Mountain Park Nature Center for a morning of fun and excitement as we celebrate the Arizona Centennial. 9:00-10:00am Park Commission Meeting 10:00am Get aquainted 10:30am Welcome and awarding of 100 miles of hiking T-shirts 11:00am Trail Overview and addresses by visiting dignataries 11:45am Groundbraking and bird release 12:00pm Walking the trail, listening to experts as they describe the areas that will be represented in interpretive displays on the trail, information, refreshments. The Centennial Trail will be a half mile loop trail that will follow an old braid of the Gila River behind the Nature Center. The "old braid" will run with water from the aquifer directly belw the site. Historical and educational features such as exhibit nodes, benches, descriptive kiosks, and public art relevant to the trail's concept and environment will be installed. These features will describe and depict the geologic history of the Estrella Mountains, explain the history of the Hohokan people and their culture, provide information on the first explorers and settlers of the region, discuss important historical events, and track the effect of agriculture, industry and war on the economy of the Three Rivers Region to 2012. The project will provide visitors an enhanced experience along a trail that is eassily accessible, ADA compliant, and one that highlights natural features visible and undisturbed today.
