Follow the Regulatory Process
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors adopted a county-wide Enhanced Regulatory Outreach Program policy in an effort to promote consistency and transparency among regulatory departments. This policy (revised 3/25/13) allows multiple opportunities for stakeholder input regarding the adoption and amendment of all regulatory requirements and includes alternative expedited processes. Alternative expedited processes consist of the Expedited Process and an Incorporation by Reference Process . These two new process options are denoted by the following: and symbols.
Step 1: County Manager Briefed Board of Supervisors
Step 2: Stakeholder Notification 2 Weeks Prior to Stakeholder Workshop*
Step 3: Conduct Stakeholder Workshop
Step 4: Stakeholder Notification 2 Weeks Prior to Citizen’s Board or Commission
Step 5: Public Meeting to Initiate Regulatory Change
Step 6: Specific Departmental Processes
Step 7: Stakeholder Notification 2 Weeks Prior to Citizen’s Board or Commission
Step 8: Public Meeting to Make Recommendation to Board of Supervisors
Step 9: Schedule BOS Public Hearing
Step 10: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
Step 11: Item Adopted
The Air Quality Department is committed to providing multiple opportunities for stakeholder input regarding the adoption and amendment of all regulatory requirements.
