The following individual is commended for his extra efforts to help clean our Valley’s air and is listed on this month’s Air Quality Honor Roll:
Jason Seavey with Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates, Inc.
3312 E. Campbell Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85018
Steve Depenbrok, dust inspector with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department nominated Jason Seavey, site construction manager for Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates, Inc. for his site located at 33rd Street & Campbell in Phoenix. The construction site is temporarily inactive although Depenbrok says Seavey keeps vigilant watch on the location and makes sure it remains stabilized.
“Seavey provided current daily self-inspection records and had pictures of the site to document its condition,” commented Depenbrok. “Taking pictures of an inactive site to ensure the dust is stable is not a common practice among permit holders.” Seavey reportedly makes frequent trips to the site and continues to implement dust control measures even though the site is currently inactive. “It is these extra measures that made me want to pursue this nomination,” continued Depenbrok.
“We would like to see more good actors on this list,” stated Max Wilson, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. “The incentives to comply with air quality rules and regulations outweigh the fines.”
“We hope the Air Quality Honor Roll list gets longer over time,” Lawrence Odle agreed, director of the Maricopa County Air Quality Department. “Along with our focus on the positive things people are doing to help us achieve more clean air, we continue to have an active enforcement program.” In this same month, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department entered into settlement agreements with 77 different companies for air quality violations. The total for the December 2008 violations were $342,447.25.
