The central solution to America’s long-standing race problems has been the hope that as more racial and ethnic groups make it into the middle class, they will become a vital, engaged, and committed part of a more diverse America.
The assumption that participation in the economy will solve other economic and social problems facing various racial groups is strong. Most discussions of economics and race focus exclusively on difficulties facing the chronically poor. The unspoken assumption is that those who make it into the middle class economically and socially have made it, and there is no need to worry about them. However, many are questioning that comfortable assumption.
Join us to discuss “the new poor”, home ownership, wealth and business development, managing debt, and other topics as they relate to race.
The forum is free and open to the public.
