Small Business Owners “Back on Track” with Organizational and AZ Tenant/Lease Solutions.

The free MCbiz, April 16th Won by One Workshop held at the Chandler Public Library helped small business owners to get back on track with suggestions from Sandra Kindred, co-owner of Back on Track! Solutions, Dann Sandvig, Designated Broker, AZ Tenant Solutions, Andres Chagolla and Nelson Mitchell, MCbiz.

Sandra Kindred went over a step-by-step process that may help business owners “Get Organized” (GO), increasing productivity levels. Some of the basic tenants of her “GO” system include prioritizing at every level of one’s personal and business worlds. Sandra stressed that “staying focused” enhances better use of one’s time. “Finding things when one needs them is key to saving time,” noted Sandra.

Expounding on the idea of easing stress at work, play, or at home, Kindred asked the group, “How many of us create piles to create more desktop space, sometimes resulting in shuffling of piles into boxes beneath desks and the subsequent creation of more piles on freshly cleared spots? The group laughed out loud, indicating that many routinely meet organizational challenges. Kindred’s discussion convinced many that the motivation to get organized should always be on the “GO.”

Tenant issues and commercial lease practices were outlined in 14 key steps by Dan Sandvig. He recommended obtaining representation outside of a landlord’s leasing agent. “Make sure that someone on your side is representing your best interests,” exclaimed Dan. Several attendees learned new ways of protecting their interests: Always get professional help, build relationships with other tenants and get to know the landlord.

Andres Chagolla, Manager for Maricopa County’s Small Business Enterprise Program, provided the business owners an opportunity to reflect on prioritizing tasks that affect their bottom lines. The exercise brought to mind just how many hats business owners wear, including wearing of the “top hat.”

Nelson Mitchell, MCbiz coordinator, demystified the process for small businesses to provide their goods and services to County departments through informal and formal bids.  Mitchell’s presentation described how small businesses can register and certify to participate in the County’s procurement process.

Small Business Highlight

Dale and Sandra DeValk attended and won the big door prize, which was gifted through Bade Companies (Roy J. Bade-owner/broker of the family-run West Valley development firm; 9059 W. Lake Pleasant Pkwy., Suite 300, Peoria, AZ 85382www.badecom.com). The DeValk’s especially enjoyed learning about the opportunities for doing business with Maricopa County, noting “we appreciate all of the valuable information presented to us….it will be of great benefit to our small business.”

Dale and Sandra own an EntryPoint dealership, providing and installing door glass. With opportunities for networking before and after the workshop, Dale said “We also enjoyed the opportunity to network with other businesses and tell them about how they can add up to 6% to the resale value of their home just by adding glass to their existing entry door and for as little as a $499 investment.”

As businesses confront the economic downturn in the valley, many are prospering and finding time to give back to their communities. The DeValk’s “believe it is important to give back to the community; therefore, (they) partner with Habitat for Humanity Valley of the Sun by offering, providing and installing beautiful decorative door lass to new Habitat Homeowners…”You can connect with them at EntryPoint of the East Valley, 2040 S. Alma School Rd.  Ste 6; Chandler, AZ  85286; 480-722-1331 or www.entrypointglass.com.
