Maricopa County Public Health to Hold Mass Vaccination Exercise at Glendale Community College Tomorrow, November 28
3,000 Flu Shots Available Free
Phoenix (November 27, 2007) – Flu season is officially underway in Maricopa County, and now is the perfect time to get your flu shot. In an effort to test its emergency response capabilities, the Maricopa County Department of Public Health will hold a mass vaccination exercise with free flu shots at Glendale Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
“This holiday season, the last thing you want is for you or your loved ones to get the flu,” said Maricopa County Supervisor Max Wilson. “This is a great opportunity to protect yourself and those close to you by getting a free flu shot and helping your health department prepare for emergencies while you’re at it.”
Mass vaccination exercises help the Public Health department prepare for emergencies by testing their ability to vaccinate thousands of people within a few hours. During Wednesday’s exercise, three thousand flu shots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Children 17 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Collaborating agencies are Glendale Community College, Glendale Police Department, Glendale Fire Department, Glendale Emergency Management, Peoria Fire Department, Phoenix Fire Department, APS, Arizona Department of Health Services, Avondale Fire Department, Indian Health Services, Arizona Department of Emergency Management, and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
