Due to a long-standing funding relationship between the Army Corps of Engineers and Maricopa County, Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox has been invited to attend a Change of Command Ceremony for the L.A. District Army Corps of Engineers. Arizona is among the southwestern dates in the L.A. District.
Colonel Magness IV will assume the command of Colonel Dornstauder in a ceremony at Fort McArthur in San Pedro, CA, Tuesday, July 10th at 10:00 AM.
Supervisor Wilcox says, “The U.S Army Corp of Engineers is a major federal partner on several major Maricopa County projects including the Laveen Conveyance Channel and the Cotton Lane Bridge. We are attending the Change of Command Ceremony to thank Colonel Dornstauder for all his work on our behalf and to wish Colonel Magness IV success for the vital service they provide our country.”
Maricopa County has been the local sponsor for many federal projects funded through the Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to the Laveen Conveyance Channel and Cotton Lane Bridge, projects include Adobe Dam, Arizona Canal Diversion Channel, Indian Bend Wash,
New River and Rio Salado.
Director of Maricopa County Flood Control District, Tim Phillips and Branch Manager of the Dam Safety Group, Tom Renckly, also will attend the ceremony to thank outgoing commander, Colonel Dornstauder and welcome incoming commander, Colonel Magness IV. The Maricopa County Flood Control District looks forward to a continuing partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers.
