Maricopa County District 5 Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox announced plans for a new traffic signal to be installed at 67 th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Roads. |
An intergovernmental Agreement with between Maricopa County and the City of Phoenix was approved Wednesday by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. Estimated bid date for the project is February 28 Supervisor Wilcox said. Cost of the project is expected to be $215,000. |
"I am delighted this long anticipated project will be accomplished with the cooperation of the City of Phoenix, Wilcox said. "These improvements will make the 67"' Avenue and Buckeye Road intersection much safer, more
efficient and ease the flow of traffic in the area." |
The project was originally a Maricopa Department of Transportation Project, but when plans for a commercial development with the City of Phoenix were submitted to the county, it was agreed that the City of Phoenix would partner with the county on the project. The design will now incorporate City of Phoenix design standards into the plans. |
Wilcox said the City of Phoenix will install the signal poles, mast arms and signal heads, anticipating future annexation of the intersection, but Maricopa County will remain the lead agency on the project. |
