Maricopa County Public Health & Metrocenter Mall hosts a FREE Emergency Preparedness Expo on Sep. 6th
PHOENIX (August 28, 2014) – Maricopa County Department of Public Health’s Office of Preparedness and Response in partnership with Metrocenter Mall and first responders will celebrate National Preparedness month with a multicultural emergency preparedness expo. This year’s theme Be Disaster Aware Take Action to Prepare – Entérese de los Desastres en su Área y Tome Acción para Prepararse reminds the community about the importance of personal preparedness.
The Expo will give residents tools to be prepared for potential emergencies with classes being offered in first aid, evacuation planning, pets in a disaster and how to start your living will as well as information tables about how to become an organ & tissue donor, how to protect important documents and much more. In addition, Phoenix Fire will have a smoke house so children and adults can be part of a drill and learn to evacuate in case of smoke or fire. Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain first aid kits, bike helmets, smoke detectors, car seats and the uninsured can get FREE flu and Tdap immunizations.
“We are appreciative to have many partner agencies come together to assist us in teaching residents about how to better prepare themselves and their families for any type of emergency – large or small,” said Dr. Bob England, Maricopa County Public Health Director.
