Phoenix, May 2, 2013: Triple digit temperatures mean triple digit intake for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. April 29th marked the first day of the year when more than 100 animals were received by our shelters in a single day. This is only the beginning; higher intakes are standard throughout the summer months.
To kick off those “dog days” of summer and the Cinco De Mayo weekend, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is celebrating with discounted adoption fees at all MCACC locations. From May 5th through May 31st, all dogs are only $5.00 to adopt, plus $17 dog license fee. Cats over 3 months of age have a zero adoption fee!
Want to help save more lives but not ready to adopt right now? Please consider helping another dog or puppy by donating $5.00. Spay or neuter your pets and help us lower the number of homeless animals in Maricopa County. Keep your dogs licensed; if the unthinkable ever happens and your pet is lost, his or her Maricopa County dog license is a “free ride home”. Get your pet microchipped to ensure he/she will have identification even if his/her collar falls off. Want to volunteer, or can you foster a pet in need? Visit our website or stop by the shelter for more information!
Andy Kunasek, Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, urges the community to think about adoption. “Dogs and cats make great companions. They have so much love to offer.” he said. “You will also be saving a life when you adopt from a shelter.”
