Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management developed a terrorism awareness brochure for County employees and is now offering the publication at no cost to residents. The brochure is a multi-department effort produced in cooperation with the Sheriff's Office, Superior Courts, and the Risk Management and Facilities Management departments.
"Our first priority is to minimize the risk of injury to employees and to the public," Emergency Management Director, Osman Aloyo, said. "We feel confident in our ability to do so should an incident occur at a County facility. Since we're also residents, it was important to us that we empower the public to feel as confident in their own areas."
The free leaflet provides guidance and a checklist on how to react to a suspicious package, a threatening phone call, and a number of other threats.
