No-cost Vaccine Clinic

Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) and Phoenix-based PetSmart Charities® are teaming up so west valley pet parents can get their dogs and cats vaccinated for free.  The no-cost vaccine clinic is part of PetSmart Charities’ commitment to support Friends of Animal Care & Control (FACCs) and MCACC.  Earlier this year, PetSmart Charities awarded a $225,000 grant to FACCs to support the non-profit’s efforts to assist pet owners in need.

The vaccination clinic will be held on October 21st at Brunswick Desert Sky Lanes, 7241 West Indian School Road in Phoenix.  The clinic begins at 7 a.m. and runs through noon – or while vaccine supplies last.  Animals will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis and pet parents are encouraged to arrive early.  Dogs must be on a leash fewer than 6 feet in length and all cats need to be in a well-ventilated carrier.  Dogs may be given a 4-in-1 vaccination which includes: Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parrainfluenza and Parvovirus (DHPPV).  Felines may receive a 3-in-1 vaccine which includes: Feline Distemper, Feline Rinotracheitis and Calicivirus (FVRCP).  Free rabies vaccinations will be offered to pets over three months of age.

Vaccinating companion animals is a quick and easy way to help them live longer lives.  Vaccines can lessen the severity of future diseases or prevent infections altogether.  All dogs and cats over the age of three months should be vaccinated for rabies. The first rabies vaccine is good for one year.  Pet parents are encouraged to discuss a vaccination schedule with their veterinarian.
