Maricopa County urges residents to continue to do their part to reduce air pollution and improve the Valley's air quality. These simple lifestyle changes can help make more clean air:
- If you already drive less, try taking the METRO Light Rail to work once a week or begin carpooling with a colleague or two...or three.
- If you already re-fuel your vehicle after dar, make sure you also check your tire pressure while your at the gas station.
- If you already consolidate errands into one trip, try parking your car and going inside to avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines at coffee shops, fast-food restaurants or while you are at the bank.
- If you already use electrically charged lawn equipment, try raking instead.
- If you already use low-VOC or water-based paints, stains, finishes and paint strippers, be sure to delay big painting projects until High Pollution Advisory days are over.
- If you're cleaning out your home and recycling old materials, make sure that containers of household cleaners and yard chemicals are sealed properly to prevent vapors from evaporating into the air.
