The following individual is commended for his extra efforts to help clean our Valley’s air and is listed on this month’s Air Quality Honor Roll:
Kelly Pollet with Hensel Phelps Construction Company
14614 N. Kierland Blvd, Ste # N100
Phoenix, AZ 85254
Monica Perrin, dust inspector with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department nominated Kelly Pollet, area superintendent with Hensel Phelps Construction Company for his site constructing the Automated Train Maintenance Storage Facility located near Hohokam Expressway and Sky Harbor Blvd. in Phoenix. While the construction site is very active, Pollet demonstrates superior dust control methods that merit an honorable mention on this month’s Air Quality Honor Roll.
“Pollet diligently made changes to the Dust Control Plan including the addition of acreage when work has been added to the project,” reported Perrin. “Mr. Pollet has only one entrance and exit to the site which is monitored continuously. In addition, he has two methods of controlling trackout as well as two wet sweepers cycling the paved areas continuously. The haul trucks are monitored to ensure they are tarped and loaded correctly. Finally, Pollet also has two water trucks that cycle throughout the site daily,” emphasized Perrin. “I was impressed with his ability to maintain a stable and clean project site during a very active earthmoving operation.”
“Here is another construction site demonstrating commendable behavior,” stated Max Wilson, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. “We hope to see more individuals just like him on this honor roll in the future.”
“As you can see, complying with air quality rules and regulations is possible,” commented Lawrence Odle, director of the Maricopa County Air Quality Department. In this same month, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department entered into settlement agreements with 94 different companies for air quality violations. The total for the January 2009 violations were $453,431.00.
