Maricopa County Supervisor, District 1
Denny Barney was elected in 2012 to a four-year term on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
In his role as Supervisor, Denny is focused on carrying out Maricopa County’s constitutional mandates, including public safety, as effectively as possible. He has prioritized making improvements to county regulatory agencies, including decreasing regulation where appropriate and improving customer service. He served as Board Chairman in 2014.
Professionally, Denny is a principal in ARCUS Private Capital Solutions, a specialized realty investment and finance company, and CEO of Landmark Companies, a private investment company with focus on real estate investment and development. He earned his law degree from ASU and is admitted to practice in the state of Arizona.
His county serve includes sitting on the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) Board of Directors and the MAG Regional Council. His previous county experience includes serving as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner and on the Maricopa County Board of Health.
His community involvement includes serving on the Advisory Board for ASU’s Morrison Institute of Public Policy and on the Mesa United Way Board of Directors, including serving as a past chairman for their annual campaign. He is an Ex-Officio Director of the East Valley Partnership and a former member of Greater Phoenix Leadership. He is also a Past President of the Mesa Baseline Rotary club and has served on the boards of the United Food Bank, Arizona board of American Indian Services, Commission on Excellence in Education and various Banner Health Advisory boards.
Supervisor Barney is a sixth generation native of Arizona and lives in Gilbert with his wife Nichole, and their four children.
