Credit recovery provides a supportive educational setting for students who need an opportunity for a new learning experience. It is typically used for students who have previously failed a course or have not earned credits in the past and need to recover, or as an alternative to expulsion. Credit recovery allows students to graduate on time, or closer to on time than if they remained in the traditional high school.
The credit recovery program consists of lessons and practice work in a specific course followed by an exam that enables the student to demonstrate that they have the knowledge required of the specific course. The exams are only offered to students whose behavior, attendance, and grades are at acceptable levels. As such, students may earn the privilege of credit recovery; it is not a right. Student eligibility for credit recovery is reviewed at length at enrollment.
