Cacti of Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
May 4 Friday 7:00 am Cacti of Spur Cross (easy) Spur Cross is home to thirteen different species of cacti. Join interpretive ranger Kevin Smith for a look at some of the cacti found along the Spur Cross and Metate Trails. Bring your camera because many of them are sure to be flowering at this time.

Fridays Fitness Hike - North Trail- McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
ALL Fridays (hike length varies). Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. It's a great way to meet new people and get fit! We build up to a longer hike at the end of each month. Meet at the North Trail Trailhead.

Reptiles of the Lake Pleasant Area and Feeding - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Come enjoy the visitor center while you learn interesting things about the native reptiles around Lake Pleasant. For those willing to watch, at the end of the talk, the Ranger will supply food to a rattlesnake and a gila monster! Also watch some tortoises eat their lunch. Come learn about these native reptiles.

Bring a friend, plenty of water, sturdy close-toed shoes, and a flashlight. ***Bonus!*** Bring a Black-light to spot scorpions!

May Full Moon Hike - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
There is no better way to experience the desert than on a night hike. Join Ranger Amy to experience the desert come alive by the light of the moon at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Flashlights are not necessary, but permitted. Bring plenty of water and sturdy shoes. Hiking time is 2 hours, and 3 miles. No pets please. Hikes begin at the Trailhead Staging area. Moonlit hike programs are free with $6/vehicle entry to the Park.

Family Moonlight Walk at White Tank Park

This is a 2.5 miles round trip - Walking along the Waddell Trail to the Mesquite Canyon Wash in the moonlight will give you a different perspective on the beauty of the Uplands Desert. We will discuss the unique changes in the desert after the sun sets. Bring a flashlight. Meet in Area 7. No dogs please.

Full Moon Hike to the Clay Mine - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Join us on an amazing and mysterious adventure as we enter our Clay Mine at night! This will be an easy 1 mile hike as we have the moon light the way to the mine. Once inside, candles will bring us through the history of this mine and will learn how its contents were used to cure all your ailments. Bring water and a flashlight in case you need it. We will supply the helmets to enter the mine as long as you wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Meet at the Group Campground.
