Desert Birdwalk to Nursery Tank Pond- ADA Accessible- McDowell Park

Desert Birdwalk to Nursery Tank Pond. Bring your binocs and come on out. No previous birding experience is required, only an interest in birds! We’ll look for winter sparrows, phainopeplas (often called ‘black cardinals’) and signs of our resident owls on this level, easy walk. Meet at the Nursery Tank Trailhead.

Interested in archery? Curious as to how it feels to shoot a compound or recurve bow? Sign up for this fun “Archery 101" program. Participants experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This archery program is open to anyone ages 8 and older. Please bring water and wear closed-toe shoes. ******Advanced registration is required. Limited to 20 participants. Please contact Ranger Sarah at 623-465-0431x202 to register. Find the Ranger - Wind Cave Trail - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
This open-house style program features our ranger hiking along the Wind Cave Trail and stopping to talk to park visitors. Our ranger will show off his “Backpack of Knowledge” and be available to answer questions about the park, discuss park history, identify desert plants, or even explain which animals call Usery Park "home". Carry ample water.

There’s a Rattlesnake on my doorstep! Life in the Phoenix area means living with rattlesnakes. So, what DO you do if you find one in your yard? What should you do if you or someone you know is bitten? Find out the answers to these questions and more during this indoor Interpretive Program for all ages-- children through adults-- with Ranger Amy. Large groups, please rsvp. Program takes place in our Visitor Center.
