The Maricopa County Education Service Agency’s goals come to life in three overarching service areas.

Educational Innovation

MCESA is committed to increasing student academic progress, achievement and success in school districts within the county by building instructional leadership capacity and creating systems that provide opportunities for 21st century learners, whether they be students in traditional classrooms, distance learners, or juveniles in transition.

Economic Management

Helping school districts increase fiscal prudence is a top priority of MCESA. Our focus is on providing resources and economic leadership to support school district operations and goals in order to enhance student opportunities. Some targets include increasing the accuracy of each school district’s tax rates, cash management and annual budget, and reducing audit exceptions.

Executive Leadership

Strong local leadership is essential to increasing student success and community satisfaction in education. MCESA works to create relationships and alliances that develop informed leaders who shape policy in support of student learning.

Our focus is on increasing the number of highly effective governing board members, increasing educational alliances that advocate public policy focused on increasing student learning, and increasing the commitment of the governmental, legislative and policy making bodies in support of student learning.

MCESA staff members also apply expertise and high levels of customer service as we conduct school district elections – both governing board and special elections, such as bond, override and recall – as well as governing board appointments in compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes for the 58 school districts in Maricopa County.
