The Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools Office monitors the federal and state grants activity for 39 of the 58 school districts within Maricopa County. In the 2007-2008 school year, these school districts were awarded 649 grants, making available over 126 million dollars to provide programs to their students that otherwise would not be available. Some of the programs provided last year were: summer school, English language development, structured English immersion, after-school tutoring, technology training and many more.
After the fiscal year ends, the grant projects' completion reports are certified by our office and forwarded to the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) for final approval. The goal of our office is to have these certifications completed within 90 days of the grant end date.
