Alliance for Innovations in Health Care
HP created, maintains, and staffs this alliance, which works to maximize the health of women, children, and families by changing the culture of the health care delivery system in ways which increase consumer access, satisfaction, utilization, and outcomes.
On behalf of the Alliance, FHP received a 5-year $250,000 Health in a New Key grant from St. Luke's Health Initiatives in November 2005. This grant was designed to build upon the assets and resiliency in the community to improve health and well-being.
Accomplishments of the Alliance include:
-
Developed policies and plans that supported community health efforts
-
Evaluated the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services
-
Utilized the Prenatal Care Satisfaction and Resilience Factors report to develop best practices in maternal and child health
-
Conducted focus groups with African American and Hispanic women in order to better design health care that will meet their needs
Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)
The Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute of Northwestern University in Chicago connects neighborhoods one resident at a time through their skills, knowledge, and passions and unites neighbors through a common purpose. The ABCD approach involves residents interviewing each other to discover their assets, matches and connects residents with common skills and interests, and devises an asset map of the community including all of the described assets.
