How to Adopt a Pet

Adopting a cat or dog is easy. Just visit an adoption location (MCACC, Mobile Pet Adoption locations, participating Petco Stores), check out the animals, and speak with an adoption counselor who will ask you to complete an Adoption Questionnaire. The Counselor will review your questionnaire to confirm that the animal you would like to adopt will be a good match for your household.

To finalize the adoption, we will explain the conditions of the adoption, ask you to sign an Adoption Agreement and Statement of Animal Health, and collect the fee. Then you are ready to introduce your pet to his or her new home. MCACC recommends taking your new friend to a veterinarian for a free wellness check within the first 10 days of pet ownership. We will give you a list of participating veterinarians.

Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to adopt a pet from MCACC. Also, if there is a high interest in one animal, we usually hold a drawing for the animal the morning he or she is up for adoption.
