Adoptions
Congratulations! You have decided to add a new member to your family and provide a loving home to an animal in need. MCACC has many friendly dogs and cats that are eager to find a loving home. Adopting a pet is exciting, but it is also a big decision that requires careful thought and consideration. It is very important that you choose your pet carefully. Your personality and lifestyle should determine which pet would be the best match. Many pets are turned into the shelter because of behavior problems that could have been avoided with a little planning. There are many things to consider such as:
- Are you ready to make a commitment to a pet for its entire life?
- Is your home and yard large enough to accommodate a pet?
- Are you financially prepared for the costs of caring for a pet?
Luckily, our Adoption Counselors are available to help you make the best decision. We also recommend that you learn a little about animal care and behavior before bringing home your new pet.
The first step. Once you’ve decided you are ready to adopt, the first step is to See Our Pets. (The best way to see all of our pets is to come into one of our animal care centers.) MCACC is the nation's second largest animal shelter and every day we sadly receive up to 200 homeless animals. We always have many highly desired types of dogs and cats available for adoption including: toy breeds, rare breeds, puppies, kittens and more! You are sure to find your perfect pet at MCACC! Need help finding your perfect pet? If you are looking for a particular breed of dog, we recommend that you visit our Centers or search the web sites listed in the Available Pets section. We now have a matchmaking feature available to find that certain breed. You can fill out the form for Dogs or Cats and a list of animals that match your description will be emailed right to you! Of course, the lists aren’t always up to date, and the best way to find the right pet for you is to visit in person. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide specific information by email or phone about the breeds that are available for adoption. Want to get a head start on the adoption process? You can view our adoption agreement here.
