Environmental Related Illness
The mission of the Environmental Related Illnesses (ERI) program with Maricopa County Environmental Services is to provide
environmental related illness investigations to Maricopa County residents, so they can mitigate exposure to contaminated
food, water and/or environmental related illnesses. The Environmental Related Illnesses program routinely collects information
from stakeholders to conduct surveillance of food and water borne illnesses. This surveillance information is used to identify
outbreaks and epidemics, and enables swift reaction to prevent further illnesses. The ERI team works closely with partner
agencies such as the Maricopa County Department of Public Health in protecting public health.
